Terms of Service
Last updated: 13 October 2026
1. Who we are
Caselaw (“we”, “us”, “the Service”) is a legal-research service operated by CounselConnect and made available at caselaw.co.ke. These Terms govern your access to and use of the Service. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
2. The Service
Caselaw provides AI-generated summaries (“briefs”) of Kenyan judgments sourced from Kenya Law, together with search, citation and analytics tools. The Service is a research aid. It is not legal advice and is not a substitute for reading the original judgment or consulting an advocate.
Briefs are machine-generated and may contain errors or omissions. Always verify anything against the original judgment before relying on it.
3. Accounts
You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend accounts that breach these Terms.
4. Subscriptions, billing and payment
Paid plans are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) through our payment provider, Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record. Your payment is subject to Paddle’s terms and privacy policy. Prices, billing cycles and plan features are shown on our pricing page and may change with notice.
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time; access continues to the end of the paid period. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to: scrape, resell or redistribute the Service or its data without written permission; circumvent usage limits or access controls; upload unlawful content; or use the Service to break any law or third-party right.
6. Intellectual property
Judgments and legislation are public documents sourced from Kenya Law. Our summaries, software, design and derived data are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. We grant you a limited, non-transferable licence to use the Service for your own research.
7. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions taken in reliance on the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
8. Changes and termination
We may update these Terms and will post the new version here with a revised date. Continued use after changes means you accept them. We may suspend or end the Service with reasonable notice.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
