Republic v Mugure (Criminal Case 18 of 2019) [2026] KEHC 11349 (KLR) (14 July 2026) (Sentence) Neutral citation: [2026] KEHC 11349 (KLR) REPUBLIC OF KENYA IN THE HIGH COURT AT NYERI CRIMINAL CASE 18 OF 2019 M MUYA, J JULY 14, 2026 BETWEEN REPUBLIC ............................................................................................ PROSECUTOR AND PETER MWAURA MUGURE ..................................................................... ACCUSED SENTENCE 1. I have taken into consideration the heavy words by the Accused. He has however, not shown any iota of remorse. The ofience of murder carries a punishment of death. Infanticide and femicide is rampant in this country of ours. 2. It calls for severe punishment as the law provides. I have gone through the impact assessment report. The murders of the (3) three Deceased persons were barbaric. 3. The prosecution has called for death penalty. I am aware that the Muruatetu case has not made it illegal. In the circumstances of this case and bearing in mind that the accused person has been in custody, I sentence him to life imprisonment in the (3) three counts. Concurrent sentence. Right of appeal 14 days. READ & DELIVERED THIS 14TH DAY OF JULY, 2026. MARTIN M. MUYA JUDGE https://new.kenyalaw.org/akn/ke/judgment/kehc/2026/11349/eng@2026-07-14 1
