High Court 6110 of 2026

In re GB alias AGA (Minor) (Adoption Cause E009 of 2026) [2026] KEHC 6110 (KLR) (Family) (30 April 2026) (Judgment) Neutral citation: [2026] KEHC 6110 (KLR) REPUBLIC OF KENYA IN THE HIGH COURT AT NAIROBI (MILIMANI LAW COURTS) FAMILY ADOPTION CAUSE E009 OF 2026 CJ KENDAGOR, J APRIL 30, 2026 IN THE MATTER OF THE CHILDREN ACT NO. 8 OF 2001 AND IN THE CHILDREN (ADOPTION) REGULATIONS 2005 AND IN THE MATTER OF ADOPTION OF GB ALIAS AGA (MINOR) IN THE MATTER OF AWN ........................................................................................................... APPLICANT JUDGMENT 1. Before this Court is an Originating Summons dated 19th January, 2026. The Applicant, AWN, is seeking to be authorized to adopt Baby GB alias AGA, hereinafter referred to as (“the Child”) and upon adoption, the Child is to be known as ANW. WGN and LGW are to be appointed as the Child’s legal guardians upon the granting of the adoption orders. 2. The Applicant is a single woman and has never been married. She is a Kenyan citizen, as demonstrated by her national identity card. She is employed as a cartographer at Land Tech Mappers, and her financial statements confirm her ability to meet the Child’s needs. A Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations confirms that she has no criminal record. She explains that her motivation to adopt stems from a medical condition she developed at the age of 26, which required surgical intervention. She stated that, notwithstanding this circumstance, she has retained a deep desire to become a parent and to nurture Children in a supportive and caring environment. She thus views adoption not only as a pathway to realizing her desire for parenthood, but also as an opportunity to offer care and stability to Children in need of parental support. https://new.kenyalaw.org/akn/ke/judgment/kehc/2026/6110/eng@2026-04-30 1
