High Court 5530 of 2018

REPUBLIC OF KENYA IN THE HIGH COURT OF KENYA AT MERU CRIMINAL CASE NO. 31 OF 2008 REPUBLIC.................................................................PROSECUTOR VERSUS CHARLES MUNGERIA KARUMA.................................ACCUSED SENTENCE 1. I have considered the mitigation on behalf of the accused. That he is a first offender. That he is remorseful and regrets the action that lead to the loss of life of his wife. 2. That he has a young child and has been in custody for 10 years. 3. I am also however alive to the fact that a life was lost in his hands. His action was most barbaric. He severed the head of his wife and damped it away from the body. 4. Notwithstanding the presentence report on record, I consider the accused a most dangerous person who is not fit to live with the rest of humanity. 5. In the circumstances I sentence the accused to life imprisonment. 14 days Right of Appeal explained. A. MABEYA JUDGE 11/7/18
